It is the care provided, the staff, and the other service users that make a home special. We believe The Oaks is special, and provides a genuine home environment and community for our service users.

Care
At Exalon, we pride ourselves in taking a person-centred approach care to support each one of our service users. This enables them to lead a fulfilled life and achieve their individual goals and aspirations. At present service users are supported in many leisure activities including gardening, line dancing, swimming and bowling. We also support service users to access sensory stimulus activities such as hydrotherapy, massage, snoozelen and music appreciation. Several service users access occupational activities which include dog walking, office work, colleges and social education centres and have achieved recognised qualifications in courses undertaken such as first aid, health and nutrition, foundation skills, bridging skills and communication skills. Comprehensive individualised care packages and high levels of one-to-one care are available, together with support to access the many facilities available in the Malvern area.

The Oaks is a registered ASDAN (Award Scheme Development & Accreditation Network) Centre. ASDAN enables service users to gain recognised qualifications within a wide range of programmes suited to individual abilities and interests.

Environment
The Oaks has plenty of space: in addition to normal domestic offices, the ground floor contains three sitting rooms, a dining room, and three bedrooms, which thus makes the home accessible to Service Users with restricted mobility. The first floor has three bedrooms with en-suite facilities, a sitting room and a further bathroom and WC; and the second floor has three further en-suite bedrooms, a standard bedroom, another bathroom and WC, and yet another sitting room. There are gardens to front and rear. Service Users choose the décor of their rooms and are fully involved in the refurbishment of the home.

The Oaks is located in Malvern Link overlooking the common and is ideally situated to facilitate Service User involvement in the local community. It is a short walk from Malvern Link railway station and shops, restaurants, associations, a sports centre and a swimming pool are all close by.
