Exalon Care Homes Limited is a privately owned company specialising in the provision of residential care for younger (18-65) adults with learning disabilities, including those whom present with challenging behaviours.

The company opened its first home in July 2001. We currently operate two care homes, The Willows in Warminster, Wiltshire and The Oaks, in Malvern, Worcestershire.

Our philosophy is to ensure ALL individuals, whatever their disabilities, have a chance to live life to the full, learn and gain access to new learning experiences and activities.

Quality of life is central, and we have a high emphasis on enabling and achieving individuals potential. Service Users at our Homes enjoy many opportunities for activities, outings and holidays, we also endeavour to ensure their educational aspirations are met.

We offer a "real home" in which Service Users are actively involved in the day to day decision making of the home, from menu planning and interior decorating to care planning and interviewing new staff.

In order to ensure the highest standards we are proactive in bench marking our service by the use external auditors such as the Social Care Association.

Andrew Dykes
Chairman
Andrew is a non-practising barrister whose initial career was in marine insurance where he specialized in oil pollution of the sea. After a Sloan Fellowship at the London Business School in 1986-87 he branched out into other fields and has held directorships of several companies. He has been involved in the care of people with learning disabilities as an owner/operator since 1997 and is closely involved with the operation of the services provided.

 

     
 
Karen Wilkinson
Head of Care Services
Karen has over 20 years experience working with Adults with Learning Disabilities, Behaviours that Challenge and Associated Mental Health Issues the majority of her experience has been with Somerset Social Service, and she joined the company in 2004.

Her qualifications include the Registered Managers Award, is a qualified trainer for CPI’s International Association of non-violent crisis intervention, qualified First Aider.

Karen has completed various social care training courses. She is able to train First Aid, Fire Awareness training up to Fire Marshall Level and various other courses.


     
 
Jane Hempson-Reading
Company Administration Manager
Jane joined the company in May 2007 as the Company Administration Manager. Jane has extensive knowledge and expertise in Human Resources from developing and formulating policies and procedures, staffing protocols, public relations, management of the IT and communication systems as well as employment law.

Jane was involved in setting up a Homeless Hostel in Bristol for young adults with learning disabilities, mental health issues and young offenders, this involved developing and implementation of policies and procedures, tenancies, individual learning and development plans for Service Users, training and development plans for the workforce and staff personnel files. Jane worked closely with local authorities, charities and Private Sector landlords.

Jane is qualified in NVQ 3 Management & Supervisory (NEBSM), extensive training and various qualifications in all fields as mentioned above

Jane is currently undertaking the Dreamweaver Training which will allow her to design and maintain the company’s websites.
